Originally Hongu Taisha located in Kumanogawa riverbank, but most of the original shrine building was destroyed during a big flood years ago. Then the remaining buildings were moved to higher ground, about 1km from the original site.

Hongu Taisha pavilion was an original Japanese shrine architecture, using all natural unfinished materials and natural colors. A touch of gold ornaments gives an elegant accent to this shrine.

To reach Hongu Taisha current location, we should climb (again and again) hundreds of stairs, going through a cedar forest.
